CLIMA Fund

The CLIMA Fund’s Let It Flow initiative supports grassroots organizations working to restore water systems, strengthen climate resilience, and build local power in regions facing climate-driven water stress. By working at a scale of entire river systems, the initiative connects water security, biodiversity, food systems, and community governance across three globally significant watersheds in Latin America, Africa, and Asia.

Investment Rationale

Supporting Let It Flow puts watersheds at the center of long-term climate adaptation while shifting resources and decision-making to the communities closest to the challenges.

  • Watershed-scale resilience: The initiative moves beyond individual infrastructure projects to restore water flows, protect ecosystems, and strengthen resilience across entire watersheds spanning multiple countries.

  • Locally led systems change: CLIMA Fund resources grassroots movements working on watershed restoration, building local capacity alongside environmental resilience.

Impact & Outcomes

Let It Flow is designed to demonstrate how grassroots movements can restore water systems and build lasting resilience across complex, transboundary landscapes.

  • Healthier watersheds: The initiative aims to improve biodiversity, water flows, and water quality while strengthening resilience to drought, flooding, deforestation, and other climate pressures across watersheds.

  • Stronger communities: Let It Flow aims to strengthen local institutions and influence the policies and systems that shape water security over the long term.
